We’re looking for an ambitious and experienced VP of Engineering to take the lead on all architectural decisions on our platform as we take the Worksome product to a global audience of users, both clients and freelancers. If you’re looking for a predictable corporate job – look elsewhere!

You’ll join our growing team of approx. 20 people, and work closely with our founding team. Further, we are backed by a group of strong investors and you’ll be an early, core-member of the team; in it for the long-run, part of the ups and downs and prepared to give it all you’ve got!

Responsibilities

• Be the lead on architectural decisions on the platform
• Take responsibility for product performance
• Take responsibility for team performance
• Lead process for new hires in the team
• Guide Lead developers on code quality and best practice
• Be the manager and mentor for all members of the development team

Technical Skills
Essential:

• PHP (or similar Backend technology)
• Javascript and familiarity with modern frontend frameworks
• SQL and familiarity with database architecture for a web application
• Git and modern development workflows

Desirable:

• Laravel
• VueJs
• Virtual cloud hosting
• CircleCI or similar continuous integration service
• Development for web-based services/platforms
• Machine Learning

Non tech:

• Leadership skills
• Recruiting experience

 

About You

• You have been an instrumental part of a fast growing startup and have grown from a Developer to a Tech Lead. Now you’re looking to lead a growing engineering function in a high growth scale-up company.
• You’ll have experience in growing, leading, coaching and mentoring driven and high performing teams. With extensive technical and leadership expertise you’ll eventually lead engineers across multiple teams and locations as we grow.
• You’ve got experience building and designing scalable and performant systems and making significant contributions to the wider engineering goals of the company.
• You understand the value of balancing product knowledge and technical skills and can coach other engineers and product managers on both.
• You enjoy creating an inspiring team environment where ideas are shared, and openness is valued.
• Extremely good communicator and have clearly evidenced that. This is what we feel running successful autonomous engineering teams comes down to.
• Want to build a big global business and are aware of how critical the tech performance is to this.

Importantly, we’d love you to have been part of a journey similar to our forthcoming journey. You’ll have spent time in start-up environments, growing from a small founding team to bigger geographically-disparate teams.
